In the year 2270, the USS Enterprise was performing a survey of the Enkidu Nebula. However, after vast quantities of pergium were discovered on Baldur III, the Enterprise had been diverted from its survey to assist Deep Space Station S-8 after it appealed for Starfleet assistance.
