Espoir Station was a space station constructed near Omega Maelstrom and tasked with studying Gravity's End, the only known example of a proto-universe phenomenon.

In the late 2260s the station was under the command of Doctor James Munroe, who was from New Texas on Earth. Under his administration, Espoir became the headquarters of a superweapon project led by Ies Bredell, who sought to use the enormous power of Gravity's End to destroy the Federation.

During the Bredell affair, Espoir's weaponry included a modified tractor/overload beam that incapacitated the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) upon its arrival to investigate the station. The station's security force was made up entirely of Vardaine officers in Bredell's service. (TOS video game: Judgment Rites)
