Exobiology (also called xenobiology or astrobiology) is the study of living alien organisms. It is a field of biology, the science of living organisms and their vital processes. It should be noted further that xenobiology is more restrictive in scope and refers to the study of the physiology (the biological science concerned with the function of living organisms) of alien organisms and life forms. (See comparative xenobiology)

Exobiology was also a course taught at Starfleet Academy.
