An experimental weapon was a 25th century starship weapon equipment type, a special weapon that was not counted by Khitomer Alliance members as part of a spacecraft's fore and aft weapon emplacements in the 2410s decade. Experimental weapons also differed from standard weapons because they were not affected by weapon-boosting subsystems. The firing arc of experimental weapons varied between types. (STO - Klingon War missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "The Hunt is On", "Explore the Flotilla", "Ceremony")

History and specifics[]

In the 2400s, these weapons were also known as heavy weapons or heavy escort weapons. Experimental weapon emplacements were not standard issue for the majority of Khitomer Alliance military starships. Spacecraft qualifying for an experimental weapon fell into particular categories: raiders with a rating of tier 5, tier 5-U, tier 6 or higher; tier 5 and higher-rated starships with a bridge position for a tactical officer holding the rank of commander, seven standard weapon emplacements and one or no hangar bays. (STO - Klingon War missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "The Hunt is On", "Explore the Flotilla", "Ceremony")

Experimental weapon types[]

Experimental weapons caused different types of damage depending on what munitions they fired. (STO - Klingon War missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "The Hunt is On", "Explore the Flotilla", "Ceremony")
