"Explorers of the Storm" was the fourth TOS short story published in Star Trek Explorer. It was written by Peter Holmstrom, edited by Jonathan Wilkins, and published in June 2022 in the subscriber digital supplement to Explorer, Issue 3. It first saw print in the Q and False and Other Stories omnibus in December 2022. The story describes Lieutenant Willard Decker and Ensign Ilia's first few weeks together on Delta IV.

Contradictions[]
- It is stated within the story that Willard Decker arrives on Delta IV about six months after Delta IV's membership in the Federation has been ratified. This would place the story either in late 2223 or in the first months of 2224 (ST reference: Star Charts). But since Decker is described to be in the rank of a Lieutenant and still mourning the death of his father Matthew Decker (The Doomsday Machine) this story most likely takes place in the late 2267.
