Facet was a Federation-protected planet located in the Twilight Nebula sector of the Organian Treaty Zone in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.

History and specifics[]

It was located less than two parsecs from the Klingon border, half a parsec from unclaimed territory, and two parsecs from the Twilight Nebula.

A private company operated a dilithium mine on the planet. The sparsely-populated outpost received irregular subspace transmissions, as its proximity to the nebula blocked communications from the rest of the Federation. Colonists would install orbital relay stations to solve the problem, but pirates or Klingons would soon disable them. The world was protected by Starfleet and desired by Klingons.
