Europe

Europe from orbit.

Fair Haven, Cuan Soineanta in the Irish language, was a small seaside town in Ireland, and island of western Europe on Earth. In the 24th century, Fair Haven was depicted in the Federation holoprogram Paris 042 aboard the Starfleet starship USS Voyager. (VOY episode: "Fair Haven")

History[]

In the holodeck version of Fair Haven, the setting was the 19th century. Paris 042 was programmed by Lieutenant junior grade Tom Paris. In the year 2376, Captain Kathryn Janeway allowed Paris to keep the program running and establish an "open door policy" for the crew. During a space storm, the program was severely damaged. Lieutenant Paris and Ensign Harry Kim began to restore it. (VOY episode: "Fair Haven")

The holograms representing Fair Haven's townsfolk became suspicious of their regular "visitors". Captain Janeway did not reveal to them their holographic nature but gave publican Michael Sullivan a tour of her ship by using the Doctor's 29th century mobile emitter. (VOY episode: "Spirit Folk")

In 2381, the rogue artificial intelligence Badgey trapped various officers and visitors aboard the USS Cerritos holodeck. In particular, he put the four lower decks ensigns Brad Boimler, Beckett Mariner, D'Vana Tendi and Samanthan Rutherford through scenarios in simulated environments to earn merit points. One such scenario was based in 19th century Fair Haven. The four ensigns dressed era-appropriately for their assignment. (LD video game: The Badgey Directive event: "Fair Haven")

First Splinter timeline[]

Voyager returns to Earth.

In January 2378 of the First Splinter[1] timeline, after returning to Earth, Janeway ordered her crew to delete any holodeck programs they regarded as "personal". Janeway herself went on one last visit to Fair Haven in order to tell Michael Sullivan that she had made it home and that she would not return. (VOY novel: Homecoming)

Candace Roske was among the crew assigned to work aboard Voyager while Project Full Circle got as much information and technology from the ship as possible. She often used the crew's holodeck programs and her uses included visiting Fair Haven. Roske really enjoyed her trip, though she thought that the bartender — Sullivan — was "a bit mopey." (VOY novel: The Farther Shore)
