Farius Prime was a neutral planet in close proximity to the Federation and the Cardassian Union. It was the homeworld of the Farian people. (DS9 episodes: "The Maquis, Part I", "Honor Among Thieves")

History

Farius Prime was a center of interstellar trade, with numerous races doing business there. A significant part of that business was conducted by criminal organizations, including Asfar Qatala and the Orion Syndicate. As a result, much of the population of Farius Prime lived in poverty while a minority prospered.

In 2336, Lieutenant Commander Samir al-Halak visited Farius Prime, accompanied by his lover, Anisar Batra, at the request of Halak's former guardian, Dalal. (TLE novel: Well of Souls)

By the 2370s, the Orion Syndicate had achieved dominance on Farius Prime, and had established a headquarters there. In 2374, Miles O'Brien was sent by Starfleet Intelligence to infiltrate the Syndicate on Farius Prime help implicate several of their members. (DS9 episodes: "Honor Among Thieves", "Prodigal Daughter")

In 2376, the Petraw, masquerading as Iconians, visited Farius Prime to conduct negotiations with the Syndicate for the gateways technology. (TNG - Gateways novel: Doors Into Chaos)

Geography

Farius Prime had two moons.

Maltabra City, a settlement on the shore of the Galldean Sea, was a major center for illicit trade, including the narcotic drug red ice. (TLE novel: Well of Souls)
