Seal of the President of the United Federation of Planets

The Federation Commission was a government institution in the United Federation of Planets. Following the founding of the Federation in 2161, the Commission was essentially the cabinet of the new hybrid government. It was made up of several elected commissioners, one from each world and each assigned a different portfolio. The commission answered to the president of the Council of the United Federation of Planets. Its military counterpart were the five Starflert joint chiefs. On April 19, 2163, Federation President Thomas Vanderbilt advised Fleet Admiral Samuel Gardner that the commission was reviewing candidates to replace the disgraced Defense Commissioner Min glasch Noar, who had been compromised by the Orion Syndicate.
