The Federation Department of Technology is the Federation executive agency responsible for regulating technology use and the promotion of technological development. In 2380, the Federation Secretary of Technology was Forzrat of Andor. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation)

In the 2160s, this position was known as the Federation Commissioner for Science and Technology. The inaugural Federation Science and Technology Commissioner was Selvok. (ENT - Rise of the Federation novel: A Choice of Futures)

There seems to be no American counterpart to this agency, though it could be considered somewhat similar to the Department of Energy. One real-world equivalent might be the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
