A Federation Ocean Monitoring Platform was a type of aquatic vehicle used on Earth in the 23rd century.

History and specifics[]

This vessel was a floating marine observation station. It was designed for shallow-water mooring, usually anchored if the water was less than 500 meters deep. The deck rides three meters above the sea. While moving, it could maintain a speed of 40 kph at up to 100 meters altitude, though it required calm weather for flight. Power was supplied by twin RNK fusion reactors and 3 antigrav units.

This type of vessel was equipped with communications equipment, sophisticated sensor arrays, a diving well at the center of the platform, a crow's nest observation post, telemetry room, and a decompression chamber. It also had six cargo-grade portable antigravs and 20 sets of diving gear. Auxiliary craft included 2 sea skimmers. (FASA RPG module: The Hottest Blood of All)
