The Federation Secretary of Science was the position in the government of the United Federation of Planets responsible for overseeing scientific research.

In 2269, Vexam ko Nel was appointed the Secretary of Science under President Lorne McLaren. Nel confronted Commodore Antonio Delgado about his time travel research and informed him that a committee would be established to oversee temporal research. During this meeting, Delgado reflected on how Nel's predecessor in the Wescott administration, Ahmed Suleiman, had been far friendlier to his research. (DTI novel: Forgotten History)
