These vessels tended to be named after stars and star systems or other stellar locations.
The repair ships were designed to provide mobile repair capabilities to starships and space station facilities. Although unarmed, the repair ships were heavily fortified so that they could carry out their critical operations in combat situations. (ST video game: Armada II)
