For other uses, see Felix.

Felix Knightly (also known as Fritz) was a human friend of Julian Bashir and 24th century writer of holo-programs, largely inspired by Earth culture of the early–mid 1960s.

Felix was a person of color, described by Nog as having dark-brown skin, high cheekbones, and a broad, smooth nose. He was also noted to have a deep voice. He preferred to simply be called by his first name, correcting Nog when addressed as "Mr. Knightly". (DS9 novel: The Long Mirage)

Among his programs were Julian Bashir, Secret Agent, a Cold War-era spy thriller, and Bashir 62, a Las Vegas casino lounge. The later program featured Vic Fontaine, a singer-entertainer who, despite being steeped in the culture and language of 1962, was programmed with full awareness that he was a computer-generated being in an artificial environment. (DS9 episode: "His Way"; DS9 novel: The Long Mirage)

Felix sent a note along with Vic's program, writing that Bashir's interest in the 1960s seemed to be "verging on the obsessive", but he wouldn't be one to come between a man and his fantasy life. Bashir found the comment cheeky, as Felix was known to stay up into the early hours of the morning while perfecting his work. Bashir also took a dig at Felix's allegedly poor psychiatric evaluations, with the implication that Felix was prone to misconstruing the truth. (DS9 novel: Hollow Men)

Felix included a jack-in-the-box subroutine in Bashir 62 which temporarily transformed Vic's lounge into a casino and introduced mobster characters such as Frank "Frankie Eyes" Chalmers. (DS9 episode: "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang")

Felix taught Bashir to hack a database, a skill which Bashir later utilized during the parasites crisis on Trill. (DS9 novel: Worlds of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Volume Two)

In 2375, it was rumored that Felix would be awarded the Daystrom Prize for Holography. Lewis Zimmerman was outraged, as he felt the prize had been made for him. Zimmerman confronted Felix, seeking details on the creation of Vic Fontaine, but he was unimpressed by Felix's explanation. Zimmerman then confronted Vic, who referred to Felix as "Fritz" during their conversation. When asked who Fritz was to him, Vic described him as an old friend. (DS9 short story: "So a Horse Walks into a Bar...")
