A Fibonacci sequence is an ordered set of numbers in which the sum of any two consecutive numbers equals the next number in the sequence. The first ten Fibonacci whole-numbers are:

- In 2168, Erika Hernandez embedded a Fibonacci sequence in a SOS message she attempted to broadcast from New Erigol, where she had been held against her will by the Caeliar for several hundred years (ST - Destiny novel: Mere Mortals). The inclusion of the sequence was done presumably to indicate that the message was not a naturally occurring phenomenon, but an intentional call for help from an intelligent being.
