Dave Cockrum (1943 - 2006) was a comic book artist who worked on a number of TOS comics for Marvel Comics in 1980, including an adaptation of TOS movie: The Motion Picture. He penciled eight issues and drew five covers. He also created a pin-up for DC Comics.

He was well known for relaunching Marvel's X-Men with writers Len Wein and Chris Claremont, co-creating Ororo Munroe, Piotr Rasputin, and Kurt Wagner, characters that have appeared in Star Trek. Cockrum preceded and followed John Byrne's run with the X-Men.

He has drawn Green Lantern and Legion of Super-Heroes stories, as well as three covers for Marvel's Star Wars. Cockrum also launched a science fiction superhero series of his own, The Futurians.
