The Viriosaurus rex was a carnivorous dinosaur species native to the Delta Quadrant. The Voth trained Viriosaurs as soldiers and installed cybernetic implants in their bodies. These were called bio-engineered Viriosaurus rex. The Viriosaurus rex body plan was reminiscent of that of the Tyrannosaurus rex. The Viriosaurus was as large as a three-story building and sported green skin. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Supply Woes")

Bio-engineered Viriosaurus rex[]

The Voth bred and trained several types of dinosaurs to use as shock troops. The bio-engineered Viriosaurus rex sported an antiproton directed energy weapon emitter on each side of its jaw. Mortars were mounted on the spine. Body armor covered parts of the body. The Viriosaurus rex could easily withstand a barrage of weapons fire of any sort. It was the largest dinosaur in the Voth army, outmatching the Furiadon and the Dankanasaur. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere mission: "Supply Woes")

History[]

Viriosaurus

A Viriosaurus rex firing its antiproton beams.

When the United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Republic allied to fight against the Voth for the supremacy of the Solanae Dyson Sphere in the year 2409, the Voth unleashed bio-engineered dinosaurs on the battlefields to assist their own troops. The Alpha Quadrant powers were surprised to encounter living, breathing dinosaurs. In the central spire of the contested zone, three Viriosaurus rex guarded the Omega particle silos against the Alpha Quadrant Alliance teams. The Allies marked their maps of the area with an insignia to mark the location of the Viriosaurs. (STO - Solanae Dyson Sphere missions: "Circles within Circles", "Supply Woes")

Viriosaurus at SFA

By 2411, the shady Ferengi trader Madran had acquired a Viriosaurus rex, named Squamous. In the fighting arena in Madran's club Shangdu on Nimbus III, Squamous was one of the tournament fighters. During the Klingon Civil War of 2411, Madran hit himself from Martok and Adet'pa in his arena, and unleashed Squamous on the Klingons and their allies. Squamous fell in the fight, prompting Madran to complain that this was costing him a fortune. (STO - Klingon Civil War mission: "Partisans")
