Filos IV was a planet, the fourth planet of the Filos system, located in or near Federation space in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants.
Specifics[]
It had a red colored sky, desolate landscape, and breathable atmosphere. Its surface was geologically active with erupting volcanoes. Filos IV's atmosphere was prone to electrical activity that blocked transporter signals, requiring shuttles to maneuver around some disturbances.
History[]
In the 2250s, Starfleet began a classified project at the Filos IV research station on Filos IV.
In 2253, Starfleet sent the Federation starship USS Enterprise to review the station's technology, in which a warp reactor generated temporary wormholes for use in a portal transporter. A malfunction sent Lieutenant Spock dangerously close to an active volcano, leading to Starfleet discontinuing further research. (ST - Spock: Reflections comic: "Issue 2")
