Finibus III was a planet located somewhere in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the third planet in orbit of the Finibus star system, in 23rd century Federation space.

History and specifics[]

Finibus III was a class M planet with 2 moons and, by the 2250s decade, was home to a remote colony with a population of several hundred Federation citizens in the year 2259. (SNW episode: "Memento Mori")

Astronomical data[]

Located at coordinates 2721.4386, Finibus III orbited a black hole and was approximately 200 million kilometers distant from a brown dwarf which emitted radio wave interference that hampered communications. (SNW episode: "Memento Mori")

History[]

The atmosphere of Finibus III was in danger of becoming unbreathable in 2259, prompting Starfleet to send the starship USS Enterprise to the colony with an upgraded AP 350 atmospheric processor. Enterprise arrived and found that the colony's communications satellite had been destroyed and the surface devastated by suborbital plasma weapon bombardment. The attack had been recent, as streaks of blood on the ground indicated. Casualties had apparently been dragged to a central location before being removed. In orbit, Enterprise found a Federation cargo vessel containing about 100 survivors, and was able to get eyewitness accounts from them. Although she noted the Gorn had never ventured this far into Federation space, Lieutenant La'an Noonien-Singh surmised that they had been attacked by the reptilian race, and the survivors left as bait. Indeed, the Enterprise was ambushed by a Gorn hunter starship hiding near the second moon, and heavily damaged. (SNW episode: "Memento Mori")
