Finnegans Wake was the last novel by James Joyce. It was written in the synthetic language Eurish.
Nyota Uhura had read the book, and in 2269 quoted from it to James T. Kirk: "The abnililisation of the etym expolodotonates through Parsuralia with an ivanmorinthorrorumble fragoromboassity amidwhiches general uttermosts confussion are perceivable moletons skaping with mulicules." According to her, the passage was a prediction of nuclear fission. (TOS novel: Spock Must Die!)
- The title of the novel is not given in the story, but can be inferred from the quote.
In 2364, Data observed that, in returning to the point where they first began their encounter with the Other-worlders, they had followed the pattern in the first and last sentences of Finnegans Wake. (TNG novel: Gulliver's Fugitives)
In 2371, Adam Halliday was working on translating Finnegans Wake into Ferengi. (TNG novel: Do Comets Dream?)
- In both novels the title is incorrectly given as "Finnegan's Wake".
