The First Minister of the Third Republic of Bajor was the Bajoran head of state and head of government. The First Minister was popularly elected by the people and serves as the head of the Chamber of Ministers, the Bajoran legislature. A First Minister typically served a term of six years, although there were no known limits on reelection to the office. (DS9 episode: "Shakaar", DS9 novel: The 34th Rule)

Shakaar Edon

First Minister Shakaar Edon in 2373.

From the Cardassian withdrawal at the end of the Occupation of Bajor, Kalem Apren became First Minister. Shakaar Edon was elected following Kalem's death in 2371. Asarem Wadeen succeeded Shakaar Edon upon his death following his inhabitation by the Parasites in 2376. In 2384, First Minister Asarem was re-elected to her post. By 2382, Federation Starfleet operated a Sovereign-class starship by the name of USS First Minister. (ST - Typhon Pact novel: Plagues of Night)

Li Nalas

Li Nalas.

In the mirror universe, Bajor was a member of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. In the 2370s decade, Li Nalas served as Bajor's First Minister by 2375. (DS9 - Mirror Universe novella: Saturn's Children)
