The First Romulan-Klingon War was a conflict between the Romulan Star Empire and the Klingon Empire that began in the year 2041.

The source of the skirmish began on reference stardate 0/0001.30 when first contact occurred between the Romulans and Klingon races. This was during an encounter at Delta Khinah II when a Romulan scout ship was attacked without provocation by the Klingons. Before engaging its self destruct system, the scout ship T'Sattak sent its log tapes to base.

By reference stardate 0/0002.01, a full scale war erupted between the two sides which ended by reference stardate 0/0306.15. Due to the heavy losses sustained, the Romulan Star Empire pulled back slightly and abandoned two outposts as a result. Though the Romulans were not aware of it at the time, the Klingons were also not in a position to push forward. After this chain of events, minor skirmishes occurred between the two sides. (FASA RPG - The Romulans module: The Romulan Way: Game Operations Manual)

The RPG sourcebook All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook mentions this war specifically, and gives it a starting date of 2041.
