Foladan IX was a planet, the ninth planet of the Foladan system, located in the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants. It was a Federation-held world.

History and specifics[]

In the 2260s, Foladan IX was considered to be in a disputed area of the Federation-Klingon Neutral Zone.

At some point prior to 2270, the planet was ceded to Federation control, leaving Klingon colonies there in limbo.

In 2270, when Commander Korga took senior officers hostage on Starbase 6, his ransom demand was to order the colonies on Foladan IX ceded back to the Klingon Empire within six hours. Captain Ted Horner was suspicious of the demand, and Spock was also suspicious when Organians did not intercede in this overt act of war. Both were proven right when the ransom was exposed as a ruse to hide a robbery attempt. (TOS - Unlimited comic: "Action of the Tiger")
