Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

Fornians were a peaceful humanoid species native to the planet Fornia.

History and specifics[]

Centuries passed without any conflict between Fornians, allowing them to develop a civilization which advanced to at least a stage of development comparable to Earth in the early 21st century. They'd invented river dams, power generators, rockets, radio telescopes, solar panels, and weather satellites. They'd also built observatories and research facilities.

In 2266, James T. Kirk and Spock acted as Federation ambassadors while meeting with Fornian government representatives. During their visit, Fornian landmarks and facilities were struck by an orbital beam weapon of immense power. Klingon Commander Tharrk demanded an immediate surrender, or he would continue to demonstrate the power of his ship's weapon. Kirk and Spock were able to disable Tharrk's battle cruiser through trickery and the use of a reflective weather satellite.

Spock suggested that the captured Klingons be sentenced through the Fornian justice system, and Kirk promised that the Federation would defend Fornians against future Klingon aggression. (TOS comic: "Smoke and Mirrors")
