Tables on Memory Beta
Hi, i just wanted to get some community feedback about some concerns with overediting tables. For those that don't know, most of our sidebars are tables that have been extensively coded by Fandom so that they will operate properly when viewed through devices.
Other tables include browsers and other "grid format" lists. A table is best used when there are extensive amounts of data to be organized.
I'm concerned that novice users, or those that are simply short sighted, might use a table in a situation where a list is called for, or to display a number of images - we have a gallery code included in the platform that is more appropriate to display alternate covers or other types of images.
Unfortunately, those users that use the "visual editor" are given the option to introduce large, complicated table codes without having direct oversight over what they are doing.
With the overall push on Fandom to codify our wiki rules and regulations for the sake of transparency, I want to make sure i am not missing any of the points as I would like to implement a community approval for new table formats - so that they can be added to the site style sheets and then implemented wii-wide - rather than seeing a user introduce a new, over complicated table format every time they please. -- captainmike 16:20, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
