Don't write a ton of HTML tags in to try and manipulate the location or size of stub content to overwhelm the article or squeeze in extra information. our articles should not be excessively coded. make lists, write paragraphs, don't try and fit everything into a sidebar.

The article should branch out to reflect two different subsections of the two things that contradict each other.

This note about universes applies to the new The Q Gambit storyline. Spoilers will state that Q brings the JJ Abrams Enterprise to its own future, in the setting of Deep Space 9. Its an alternate future. It is not the beginning of a new Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (alternate reality) series. Each thing is a slightly alternate version of the familiar version, and Kirk will quite likely save the Federation, meaning all these characters will hit a rest button and go back to whatever they would have been in the previous veersion. This is not Skrain Dukat (alternate reality)... its Skrain Dukat, in an alternate timeline, of the alternate reality (Nero, 2233)... one of many alternate versions that can be covered in Skrain Dukat (alternates), for example. We may not ever see what the Skrain Dukat of the actual alternate reality will be.

We've already seen this go wrong once, as there is scads of data added about the Alternate reality (mirror Nero, 2233). But there's no such thing. Its not even a real universe, as revealed in the end of the story, so there was no reason or call for there to be a Spock (alternate reality) (mirror) article, with a horrible use of disambiguant naming convention, for a character who is not real as the article portrays him, to boot. -- -- Captain MKB 03:15, August 21, 2014 (UTC)

Ten ForwardThe Q Gambit and newer comics (Reply | Watch)

There seems to be a problem with users approaching new IDW comic articles and other new publications articles with a little too much enthusiasm. While appreciable that we want to share these comics with the community, there needs to be some improvement in the quality of the approach.

 1. Stop junk formatting : If you are creating ANY new article on the wiki -- DON'T include blank subsections! If you are not willing to write content for a comics references, for example, simply omit the ==References== tag! Write an article of the appropriate length of the content you are sharing, and move on. Don't copy in a bunch of blanks and don't mark unknown quantities with an idiotic row of questions marks "???????". Don't write a ton of HTML tags in to try and manipulate the location or size of stub content to overwhelm the article or squeeze in extra information. our articles should not be excessively coded. make lists, write paragraphs, don't try and fit everything into a sidebar.
 2. Don't be pedantic about universes and timelines : We have a primary universe, a mirror universe and an alternate reality (Nero, 2233) as the three main universal settings in our sources. Don't try to name a new one. Almost all sources are protrayed in one of these settings, and if you perceive a discontinuity, it doesnt mean you've discovered a new Shatnerverse or Destinytimeline. The article should branch out to reflect two different subsections of the two things that contradict each other.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow: The following content contains spoilers!
