Four-engined shuttle

Kes' starship in 2376.

The four-engined shuttle[1] was an unnamed[2] 24th century[3] Delta Quadrant spacecraft class, a shuttle[2] starship[4] in civilian[5] service in the 2370s[3] decade. (The Official Starships Collection Issue 169: "Kes' Shuttle")

History and specifics[]

This type of shuttle was propelled by four tube-shaped engines attached to the rear compartment, separated by horizontal wings and vertical aerofoils. The elongated crew compartment hosted the ship's single pilot. The hull material appeared metallic and light grey. (The Official Starships Collection Issue 169: "Kes' Shuttle")

In 2374, the pirate Tau owned a small fleet of pirate ships of this type. These had blue-green paint applied to the hull, elongated wings and smaller winglets attached to the bow of the avionics bay. Tau's pirates raided the wayward Federation starship USS Voyager in that year. (VOY episode: "Concerning Flight")

Torat's species used ships of this type. These were powered by mercurium isochromate, a fluidic alloy that made them hard to track. Scientist Torat left Torat's planet aboard such a vessel in 2375. He was tracked down by Voyager to assist in identifying wormholes within the space of the Devore Imperium. It shared the green markings with Tau's pirates but lacked the wing extensions. (VOY episode: "Counterpoint")

A version of the Ocampa Kes and Lia[6] acquired a four-engined shuttle. Kes' starship bore delicate yellow markings on the upper pair of engines. Its engine glow was green. In 2376, this Kes was consumed by fury and wrought havoc to Voyager until Captain Kathryn Janeway was able to help her recover her memories. The elderly Kes returned to Ocampa V and was guided by their son Kol to the quasi-corporeal Kes, a former Voyager crew member. (VOY - String Theory novel: Evolution, VOY episode: "Fury")

In 2377, a four-engined ship was among the racing shuttles participating in the first annual Antarian Trans-stellar Rally. It had a red engine glow. (VOY episode: "Drive")

A larger version of this vessel, colored brown, with an orange engine glow and multiple cockpit windows, operated as a Benkaran shuttle in Nygean space. In 2377, it attacked Voyager, which at the time carried surviving guards and prisoners from a Nygean prison ship. Voyager repelled the attack. (VOY episode: "Repentance")
