Memory Beta, non-canon Star Trek Wiki

In the mirror universe, the Fourth Bolian World War, or World War IV, was an intercontinental conflict on the planet Bolarus IX until the middle of the 16th century. Fought between three superpowers that divided the Bolian species — the nations of Bol'se, Bol'ra and Bol'ki — this struggle was later known to have been the second time in their history where superweapons were utilised, though the deployment of these devices had devastating consequences that left Bolarus in a condition where it took seven centuries for the participating states to rebuild themselves, their nationalistic sentiments driving them to proceed with a three-sided cold war, which contributed to the outcome of their first contact with the Terran Empire.

Bolarus, a divided world.

Bolarus, a divided world.

Since the earliest hours of their chronicled history, Bolarus had been locked within the clutches of incessant warfare between different factions of the species that called this planet their home. A race of humanoids with blue skin and vertical cartilaginous facial ridges, the earliest Bolians were divided into various ethnic groups who battled their rivals for access to fertile hunting grounds. As their people continued to progress to discover herding techniques and horticulture, the clans fought one another without relent. Indeed, though some of the countless raids which occurred during this era were driven to sustain the attackers after failed harvests, the animosities between tribes ran so deep that even when food was abundant, the incursions carried on, driven from the desire to avenge previous misdeeds.
