Friendly was a cadet at Starfleet Academy in the early 2250s, at the same time as James T. Kirk and Hunter. During their first year in school, Friendly bought charges against Hunter, which nearly resulted in her being booted out the Academy. (TOS novel: The Entropy Effect)
