A friendly reminder regarding spoilers! At present the expanded Trek universe is in a period of major upheaval with the continuations of Discovery and Prodigy, the advent of new eras in gaming with the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Star Trek: Infinite and Star Trek Online, as well as other post-57th Anniversary publications such as the ongoing IDW Star Trek comic and spin-off Star Trek: Defiant. Therefore, please be courteous to other users who may not be aware of current developments by using the {{spoiler}}, {{spoilers}} OR {{majorspoiler}} tags when adding new information from sources less than six months old (even if it is minor info). Log entries[]

Personal log, James T. Kirk.
Commander UFP Merchantman Bounty. I have an uneasy feeling about putting my friends' lives in jeopardy on this. The slenderest of hopes... but my gut tells me Mia Colt should not be here. If I can get her back, I can only wonder how different... how much better... all our lives will be...

Background[]

  • The full title for this issue is "Future Tense, Part Two", continuing from the previous issue "Futures, Part One". This issue advertises the next as "Past Imperfect", but the issue was released under the title "Futures" again, but not given a part number.
  • The stardate for this issue is derived from the next issue, "Futures".
  • When Kirk said returning Colt to Algol would lead to a "greater reward that you can possibly imagine", Lamek answered with a retort similar to Han Solo's in Star Wars: "I can imagine an awful lot".
  • The full-page panel of three Enterprises on display at the Smithsonian in San Francisco was recreated in CG for The Roddenberry Archive project short "765874" in 2022. (Smithsonian in CG at YouTube.)
