History[]
Early in his career, Márquez was assigned to the Federation starship USS Hunley with the rank of ensign and served alongside John Harriman. (ST - The Lost Era novel: Serpents Among the Ruins)
Márquez later progressed in rank in Starfleet, eventually receiving a promotion to Captain, commanding the USS Cassiopeia.
In 2319, Admiral John Harriman diverted the Cassiopeia to Helaspont Station where he ordered all crew to disembark and commandeered the vessel for a personal mission that lead to the ship's destruction. (ST - The Lost Era novel: One Constant Star)
