The Galactic Condition Database was Starfleet's starship navigational database.

History and specifics[]

The complex stellar cartography database contained the locations and relative velocities of stellar objects and phenomena, including stars, planets, asteroids and comets. Data was collected from such sources as the Argus Array and was regularly updated. (ST reference: USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual)

USS Voyager's navigational database was backed up in the computer core. It was one of three systems not directly operated with bio-neural circuitry. (VOY - Strange New Worlds I short story: "Good Night, Voyager")

In 2270, the USS Enterprise's navigational database was updated before it departed Starbase 25 for Briamos. However, while the files had data on Briamos, it lacked information on a variable pulsar encountered en route whose orbital warning buoys had been recently sabotaged by Klingon Commander Kumara. As a result, the Enterprise arrived for its diplomatic mission scorched and damaged, whereas Kumara's cruiser glistened in orbit. (TAS - Log Ten novelization: The Slaver Weapon)

By 2372, the USS Enterprise-E had been outfitted with an upgraded version of the galactic-condition database prior to its launch under the command of Captain Morgan Bateson. Data mentioned the database to Jean-Luc Picard in 2372 while describing other improvements, such as quantum torpedoes and long-range sensors that reached significantly further than those of previous starships. (TNG novel: Ship of the Line)

In 2376, while preparing for transit through a hostile sector, USS Defiant's navigational database was upgraded by conn officer Lankford and supplemented with Cheka star charts. (DS9 - Mission Gamma novel: This Gray Spirit)

Also in 2376, Ensign Songmin Wong cross-referenced the USS da Vinci's navigational database to locate the Senuta's homeworld in the Beta Quadrant. (SCE novel: Foundations, Book Three)

The Galactic Condition Database was cited by name in the USS Enterprise Owners' Workshop Manual and Ship of the Line, and as the starship's navigational database in other sources.
