For other uses, see Galileo.

The Galileo (NCC-1701/07) was a Federation SW7-class shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the late 23rd century.

History[]

The shuttle was assigned to the refit USS Enterprise. Galileo was the latest of a series of Enterprise shuttles to bear that name. (TOS reference: Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise)

The Galileo was used for transportation duties when the Enterprise was in drydock at the San Francisco Fleet Yards. (Ships of the Line 2006)

In 2277, Fleet Admiral Karis Tatenen stole the Galileo from the Enterprise while the ship was in orbit of Pollox IV and attempted to ram three Klingon Kl'ar-class starships also in orbit of the planet. The course set by Tatenen prevented the Enterprise from locking on with a tractor beam and his intention to ram was only stopped when Captain Kang's vessel opened fire and destroyed the Galileo with a single phaser blast. (TOS - Star Trek II Short Stories short story: "The Blaze of Glory")

The Galileo's class and designation wasn't noted in "The Blaze of Glory", and may have been a different shuttlecraft Galileo to the one described in Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise.
