For other uses, see Galileo.

The Galileo (NCC-1701-A/5) was a Federation SW7 class shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the late 23rd century.

Service history and disposition[]

In the early 2270s, Galileo was assigned to the USS Enterprise with registry NCC-1701/7. (TOS reference: Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise)

In the year 2273, Galileo landed in Iowa on Earth to retrieve Rear Admiral James T. Kirk from his family farm, where he'd spent two weeks on shore leave after the V'ger incident. (TOS eBook: Shadow of the Machine)

In February 2274, Galileo picked up Federation Commissioner Audrid Dax, Commander Spock, and Doctor Christine Chapel from the Trill starship Troyval to be brought to the Enterprise, rather than use the transporter, out of respect for Trill privacy and customs. (TOS eBook: The More Things Change)

In the 2280s, the shuttle was assigned to the USS Enterprise-A. Galileo was the latest of a series of Enterprise shuttles to bear that name, replacing a previous Galileo 5 that was wrecked recovering crew from the Nimbus III mission. (TOS movie, novelization & comic adaptation: The Final Frontier)

In 2287, Hikaru Sulu used the Galileo to transport a security team down to Datugad to rescue hostages that Shelm and his Essejjian followers had taken from a Federation medical assistance project. (TOS comic: "So Near the Touch")
