In early 2264, the Galileo was charged with transporting seven people from Earth to Vulcan at the invitation of the Vulcan Science Academy. However, in a tragic error, the Galileo was destroyed crossing into Interstellar Coalition space by the ICV Vanik. All aboard were killed, including Dr. Carol Marcus Kirk and her young son, David.
