Gamon Vell was a male Bajoran in the 24th century. By the 2370s he served as a Vedek in the Bajoran faith. In April 2376 he was approximately 41.5 years old.

In April 2376 Gamon volunteered to pursue Prylar Istani Reyla, who had travelled to Deep Space 9 to hide the Ohalu Prophecies, which the Vedek Assembly considered heretical. Gamon had a fake ID card made, giving him the identity of Galihie S., from the Laksie township near Jalanda, and booked passage to DS9, under the guise of visiting the station's temple. On the space station he found Istani and stabbed her in plain site of a crowd on the Promenade, he then took her bag and ran for it. Deputies in the stations security pursued him and in a desperate attempt to escape he jumped over the railings, and fell to his death. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book One)

To Gamon's misfortune his sacrifice was insufficient to keep the prophecies out of the public domain. Before he had arrived on the station Istani had already hidden the book elsewhere on the station. In the course of the ensuing murder investigation it was found by Ro Laren and later uploaded by Kira Nerys onto the Bajoran comnet in an act of defiance against the Vedek Assembly's censorship and sanctioned murder of Istani. (DS9 novel: Avatar, Book Two)
