Ensign Gardner was a Human man, a Starfleet officer assigned to the engineering department of the USS Enterprise in the 2260s.

History[]

In 2269, during a struggle to prevent Dassik cluster ships from bombing the vast Web of Worlds hidden inside the class J atmosphere of Cherala, Gardner and Ensign Davis hastily wrote programs that would adjust plasma flow rates to protect the ship's damaged starboard nacelle from a catastrophic failure. (TOS novel: The Face of the Unknown)

When the Enterprise became ensnared in the gravitational field of Questar M-17, Lt. Commander Scott ordered Gardner and Davis to put all power into reversing the engines. (TAS - Log One novelization: Beyond the Farthest Star)
