Gauran Ja-tem was a planet in the Tzenkethi Coalition. It was near the border with the Federation.
In the 2350s, during the Tzenkethi War, Starfleet identified Gauran Ja-Tem as being the suspected location of a Tzenkethi industrial complex and prepared to give orders to the crew of USS Leonov to cross into Tzenkethi space and destroy it. Section 31 suspected many civilians and scientists would be killed and leaked the location of the Leonov to the Tzenkethi, who attacked the vessel.
