A generator tube is a technology component used in shuttlecraft construction.
In the year 2268, James T. Kirk, in an attempt to stop Black Jack Nova from leaving the planet Taos IV in his shuttlecraft, threw his sword at him, but it missed and instead struck one of the generator tubes. Shortly after Nova took off, the damage to the vehicle caused it to crash and explode. (TOS comic: "The Flight of the Buccaneer")
