George Armstrong Custer (5 December 183925 June 1876) was an American soldier who lived in the 19th century.

Biography[]

Custer was killed in the Battle of the Little Bighorn. (TNG episode: "The Defector", TNG - A Time to... novel: A Time to Kill)

Had he merely waited for reinforcements, Custer would have handily defeated the Cheyenne forces at Little Bighorn. Cadet James T. Kirk made that assessment after spending restless nights studying historic military defeats after having failed his first Kobayashi Maru scenario test. (TOS novel: The Kobayashi Maru)

Legacy[]

In 2266, Cervantes Quinn recalled Custer when he and Clark Terrell aboard Rocinante were confronted by the overwhelming force of the Klingon battle cruiser IKS Zin'za. (VAN novel: Reap the Whirlwind)

In the year 2374, Benjamin Sisko saw parallels between himself and Custer's Last Stand when the Dominion destroyed the minefield blocking the Bajoran wormhole and signaled for reinforcements in the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9 - The Dominion War novelization: ...Sacrifice of Angels)

Kelvin timeline[]

In 2255, Vanderlick called James T. Kirk "Custer" after the Derelict Cairo test at Starfleet Academy, in which Kirk's Team Delta failed after 90 minutes. (TOS - SA novel: The Delta Anomaly)
