George Wilhelmsem was a 23rd century Human man. He was a communications officer who served in Starfleet aboard the Federation starship USS Excelsior in the year 2285 under the command of Rear Admiral James T. Kirk.

Biography[]

Wilhelmsem served as communications officer aboard Hikaru Sulu's first command, the USS Robert A. Heinlein, which went missing in 2275. He and other personnel were rescued by the USS Enterprise. (TOS video game: The Kobayashi Alternative)

In 2285, Wilhelmsem was a relief communications officer for Nyota Uhura aboard the Excelsior. At one point, Uhura chastised him for accidentally deactivating the ship-wide universal translator.

A week later, eight Ajir commandeered the ship and placed the senior bridge crew officers in the brig. Wilhelmsem manned communications for acting CO Dahai Iohor Naraht. Interpreting Kirk's orders to slow down the Ajir without harming them, Naraht asked Wilhelmsem to turn off the translators again. When the intruders arrived on the bridge, they couldn't understand any of the crew. Wilhelmsem went a step further and shorted out the multistate equivocator, creating dramatic sparks across the bridge consoles. Ajir believed the relief crew must be incompetent and headed back to the brig. Wilhelmsem said repairs would only take three minutes. (TOS - Double Blind comic: "Double Blind, Part One")
