Ghissel was an Androssi female who was part of the Androssi salvage teams operating in the Rashanar Battle Site in 2378. She was slender, almost delicate face with sepia-hued skin and long brown hair tied in a ponytail. She had amber eyes.

Ghissel was initially assigned to the scouting team that surveyed potential wreckages. Initially, Ghissel and the pilot, Boenmar, was assigned to survey the wreckage of the USS Asgard, during their time aboard the two became lovers. Shortly after, the Asgard was visited by Captain Picard and a team from the USS Enterprise-E where Ghissel allowed herself to be taken prisoner, following her discovery.

Whilst aboard the captain's yacht, Calypso, Ghissel managed to gain control of it, after debilitating Picard with a muscle toxin, and putting him off the ship. She managed to escape with the Calypso and returned to the salvage team with Boenmar, and she was made an Overseer. Following this, she set a plan in motion for the salvage team to work together in retrieving the D'deridex-class warbird, IRW Rom'drex.

The joint Androssi attempt to capture the Romulan derelict, Rom'drex, failed due to Starfleet and Ontailian intervention, and the Calypso was forced to retreat. Despite Boenmar's and Ghissel's best efforts to avoid being detected, they were pursued by the shuttlecraft Hudson, and went deeper into the gravity sink. It was near the gravity sink, that Boenmar and Ghissel died after the Calypso was absorbed and copied by the "demon flyer", and the original was destroyed. (TNG novel: A Time to Be Born)
