The Giants were a professional baseball team on Earth that was founded in the late 19th century. Initially based in New York City, the team later moved to San Francisco, California in 1957.

In a vision of 1953 created by the Prophets in 2374, Willie Hawkins was the only Negro player for the New York Giants. (DS9 episode: "Far Beyond the Stars")

In the Kelvin timeline, the Giants existed in some form in 2255. While escorting James T. Kirk to Vice Admiral Tullsey's office at Starfleet Academy, Collins, a Starfleet Security officer, offered to talk with him about the Giants, but Kirk declined because of their poor hitting at the time. (TOS - Starfleet Academy novel: The Gemini Agent)

Captain Benjamin Sisko had a San Francisco Giants cap in his possession, which he would later wear when preparing for a game of baseball against the Vulcan Logicians team. (DS9 episode: "Take Me Out to the Holosuite")
