Golden Gate Park is a large park in the city of San Francisco on Earth. The park is rectangular, 1,017 acres (or 4.1 km²) in size. It had a beach area.
Although it had been damaged during the Eugenics Wars, San Francisco restored and maintained the park in the 23rd century. (TOS novel: Serpents in the Garden)
After traveling back in time to 1986, Admiral James T. Kirk directed Commander Hikaru Sulu to set their captured Klingon ship, HMS Bounty, down in Golden Gate Park. The early-morning landing of the cloaked ship was witnessed only by a pair of sanitation workers. One of the workers insisted that neither one of them saw anything as they fled the scene.
As the Bounty was cloaked, it went unnoticed by people in the park. One of the sanitation workers, however, spent a large amount of time staking out the site, hoping to see further evidence of the strange goings-on. (TOS novelization: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
Early one morning in the spring of 2273, Kirk rendezvoused in the park with Giancarlo Rowland and security guards Apryl Burch and Titus Hay. They were then beamed up to the civilian transport vessel Captain Cook for a clandestine trip to Neural. (TOS novel: Serpents in the Garden)
When Julian Bashir suggested San Francisco as a new home for the O'Brien family, he mentioned as one reason that Miles could take Keiko for walks through Golden Gate Park. (DS9 novelization: What You Leave Behind)
