Gornar, or Tau Lacertae IX, was an inhabited planet, a class M world and the ninth planet in the Tau Lacertae star system, located in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant. Gornar was the homeworld of the reptilian Gorn species and the capital of the Gorn Hegemony, an interstellar nation-state. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

Names[]

As the ninth planet in the Tau Lacertae system, Gornar also bore the designation Tau Lacertae IX. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

Each Gorn language had their own name for their shared homeworld, including Agornu, Garag, Koreb, S'sgaron and Shekkis. (Adventures RPG module: Beta Quadrant Sourcebook)

Agornu was historically associated with the cradle of the First Gorn empires in the year 6000 BCE. (Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook)

In the Kelvin timeline, the Gorn named their nation the Gornar Hegemony, after their homeworld instead of their culture. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 2")

The Gorn found other means of travel and embroiled local space in the Gorn War. (TOS - The Janus Gate novel: Future Imperfect)

In the Kelvin timeline, Gornar was the capital planet of the Gornar Hegemony. In 2260, a power ring arrived at Gornar and turned a prince into a Red Lantern.
