Gornar (also known as Tau Lacertae IX, Agornu, Garag, Koreb, S'sgaron or Shekkis) is a planet, an inhabited world located in Gorn Hegemony space, in the galaxy's Beta Quadrant[8]. Agornu was historically recognized as the world on which the First Gorn empires began. The date of this event was 6000 BC. (Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook)

History and specificsEdit

Gornar was a class M planet, the ninth planet in the Tau Lacertae star system. It was the homeworld of multiple[9] sapient reptilian species, collectively known as Gorn.[10] (STO novel: The Needs of the Many, Adventures RPG module: Beta Quadrant Sourcebook)

NamesEdit

As the ninth planet in the Tau Lacertae system, Gornar also bore the designation Tau Lacertae IX. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

Each Gorn language had their own name for their shared homeworld, including Agornu, Garag, Koreb, S'sgaron and Shekkis. (Adventures RPG module: Beta Quadrant Sourcebook)

The name Agornu was associated with the cradle of the First Gorn empires in the year 6000 BCE. (Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook)

In the Kelvin timeline, the Gorn named their nation the Gornar Hegemony, after their homeworld instead of their culture. (TOS - The Spectrum War comic: "Issue 2")

Gornar location in the Tau Lacertae system.

It was located in the Beta Quadrant as the ninth planet in the Tau Lacertae system. Gornar was a tropical jungle world. (ST reference: The Worlds of the Federation)

Two class D moons orbited Gornar. (STO - Season 9: A New Accord mission: "Undine Assault")

Axial tilt was lesser compared to Earth. The [[[atmosphere]] trapped much of the heat and accounted for Gornar's warm temperature. Mammals never rose to any type of prominence on Gornar. This lead to the development of the Gorn race. Dinosaur-like creatures still roam the wild areas of the planet.[citation needed]

The Gorn achieved interstellar travel at least millions of years ago. 500 million years agp, they visited the planet Cenotaph in the Lotora star group. (TOS - Unlimited comic: "Dying of the Light")

During the Klingon-Gorn War in the late 24th century, the Klingon Empire blockaded Gornar for three years. (STO novel: The Needs of the Many)

In 2410, the Khitomer Alliance scrambled to Gornar when the Undine targeted the world for destruction with an Undine planet killer. (STO - Season 9: A New Accord mission: "Undine Assault")

Alternate timelinesEdit

In an alternate timeline where first contact between the Gorn Hegemony and the Federation went awry in 2267, the Metron Consortium punished the Gorn and confined them to their homeworld, barring them from space. The Gorn found other means of travel and embroiled local space in the Gorn War. (TOS - The Janus Gate novel: Future Imperfect)

In the Kelvin timeline, Gornar was the capital planet of the Gornar Hegemony. In 2260, a power ring arrived at Gornar and turned a prince into a Red Lantern. Glocon killed his father and became the new Hegemon, leaving Gornar with his ally Atrocitus to start the Spectrum War with neighboring powers. (TOS - The Spectrum War comics: "Issue 2", "Issue 3")

In the mirror universe, Gornar was the capital of the Gorn Hegemony, a founding member of the Taurus Pact. (ST - Mirror Universe novel: Rise Like Lions)
