The Grand Inquisitor in .

The Grand Inquisitor in 2268.

The Grand Inquisitor of the late 23rd century was the current holder of the title of Grand Inquisitor. As such he led the Inquisitors of his native planet.

In 2268, the Grand Inquisitor examined the radio and other equipment of the crashed Federation shuttlecraft Galileo which the Inquisitors had seized and taken to their castle. When Spock, Pavel Chekov and Claire attempted to recover their radio, the Inquisitors captured them and brought them before the Grand Inquisitor, who denounced them as emissaries of the Dark One and ordered them to show how their machines worked. When Spock refused, the Grand Inquisitor had him tortured in their interrogation chambers. Spock resisted being tortured, but agreed to talk when the Grand Inquisitor threatened to torture Claire instead. However, he and the rest of the Inquisitors were soon afterwards captured by a group of rebels, presumably ending their rule. (TOS comic: "Day of the Inquisitors")
