Description[]
- "Assignment: Earth" was the second season finale of Star Trek's original series. The story was meant to launch a spinoff series, but it never got to TV.
- Decades after the debut that never came, John Byrne took up the mantle and continued the adventures of agent Gary Seven and his companion, Roberta Lincoln. The duo tries to save the future of Star Trek on Earth, but they have to do it without anyone noticing. The bold time-traveling adventure takes them back to the main historical events of the 1960s and 1970s.
- With John Byrne's writing and artwork, the series that should have continued the 1968 TV episode finally continues.

- Front cover art is from the miniseries omnibus cover. Back cover art is the left side of the splash page for "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow". The introduction included panels from page 17 of "Brighter Than a Thousand Suns", pages 16-17 of "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow", and page 14 of "We Have Met the Enemy...".
- John Byrne's other Star Trek comic stories have been collected in volumes 53 (Leonard McCoy, Frontier Doctor), 104 (Romulans: Pawns of War), 108 (Crew), and Special Edition 4 (Alien Spotlight: Romulans). Premium Photonovels 1, 2, 3, and 4 reprinted the first half of his New Visions photo-montage stories.
