A gravitic mine was a type of mine which was used in the 23rd century and beyond. These mines consisted of explosive charges which were left at a fixed point in space and programmed to detonate when a starship approached it. (TOS movie: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, TNG episode: "Ethics")

The Dominion have been known to use gravitic mines. In 2375, a Federation shuttlecraft carrying Ezri Dax, Nog, Jake Sisko and Ensign Warren struck a cloaked gravitic mine near a planet they were investigating. The team later theorized that the mine had been placed there by the rogue Breen they encountered on the planet. (DS9 short story: "Fear, Itself")
