Graviton generator

A graviton generator from the Intrepid-class.

An artificial gravity generator or graviton generator is a device which generates gravitons, allowing individuals in low or micro-gravity environments to experience the sensation of gravity.

History and specifics[]

In 2254, the USS Enterprise disabled the USS Cortez's artificial gravity generator when the two ships were battling, giving the Enterprise time to recover whilst the Cortez's controllers were distracted by the lack of gravity. (EV comic: "Cloak and Dagger")

The Kzinti Hamstringer weapon creates an energy field that overloads artificial gravity generators. In 2274, the Kzinti warship Giant Killer used it to disable the starship USS Enterprise, leaving her crew in zero gravity. (TOS comic: "The Wristwatch Plantation")

Thousands of miniaturized graviton generators were used in the gravity plates aboard Intrepid-class starships to produce a stable gravitational field. (Star Trek: The Magazine vol. 3, Issue 3: "Intrepid Class Design Lineage")
