The Great Crash of 09 was an economic disaster of Orion history.

In reference stardate 2/0902 (c. 2267), three Orion corporations were implicated in efforts to sabotage the Babel Conference of 2267. (FASA RPG modules: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge, The Orions: Book of Deep Knowledge) Meanwhile, Coridan's admission to the Federation hit local Orion dilithium smuggling operations hard, depriving them of a valuable resource (Last Unicorn RPG module: All Our Yesterdays: The Time Travel Sourcebook).

Orion trade was also weakened through across the Klingon Neutral Zone and the Triangle. This had severe effects on Orion worlds. (FASA RPG modules: The Orions: Book of Common Knowledge, The Orions: Book of Deep Knowledge)
